CHICAGO | Doughnut Vault offers daily specials and menus that change frequently, so visitors to this shop can always try something new. With an award-winning glazed donut though, you won’t have to steer far from the classics at this joint to experience some truly tasty treats.

Chicago restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff (Au Cheval, 3 Arts Cafe) has set the standard for gourmet doughnuts in the city of broad shoulders. Both vault locations and the vault truck run out almost daily, and the best way to plan a visit to a shop is with one eye on Twitter monitoring for the words, “sold out.”

Our advice? Arrive early, as the vault usually only stays open for several hours each day. Head to the original Franklin street location for an extra dose of charm, as The Doughnut Vault here is housed inside of an old bank vault. If rising early to stand in line isn’t quite your thing, visit the Canal Street location, the address of which we’ve included below. This one has set hours, since it’s more of a coffee shop, and usually doesn’t run out of doughnuts until around 3:00pm.
