MELBOURNE | Gourmet Cinema has returned for another year, combining two of Melbourne’s great loves: food and movies. Set up at Caulfield Racecourse, this outdoor cinema experience includes food supplied by some of Melbourne’s most popular restaurants, whose menus are inspired by the feature film of the night. Each night will feature a different movie with different restaurants to match, whilst the drinks provided by Pimm’s Garden Bar remain constant throughout the 11-day experience.

The City Lane was invited to attend the opening night of Gourmet Cinema 2017, where the feature film Eat, Pray, Love was complimented by delicious wood-fired pizzas and pasta from Baby Pizza, as well as other cultural delights from Horn Please, Tokyo Tina and Meatmaiden. This pairing between movies and food is such an exciting concept, especially considering Melbourne’s current love affair with food. By enabling movie-watchers to eat the same or similar food to what is shown on screen, it enhances the cinema experience and takes us on a culinary journey with the movie and its characters.

Each night, Deliveroo will also be available, so you can order your food online and have it delivered without needing to leave your patch of grass or deck chair! With blankets, deck chairs and beanbags available for hire, it’s easy to get comfortable and immerse yourself in this outdoor movie experience.
