LOS ANGELES | Jason Kim’s Forage in Silver Lake is, as the name suggests, a very much on trend restaurant that’s all about locally sourced, seasonal, sustainable ingredients, and a farm-to-plate ethos. Want to know what farm every single ingredient on the dish you’ve ordered is? Forage is the place for you. In fact, diners are even encourage to bring in their home grown produce as part of a sort of barter system.

The bright venue is set up like a cafeteria – you grab a tray, select your items from the counters, and take it to your table. The menu changes daily of course, based on whatever is good and available on that day, and features an array of healthy-eating, vegetable-focused New American dishes like grilled tri-tip steak with chimichurri, salmon belly tacos, and the ever popular mac ‘n’ cheese (which is always on the menu by the way).

Yes the place is hip and oh so stereotypically Silver Lake, but does it matter when the intentions are right and the food tastes this good?
