LOS ANGELES | Valerie Confections Echo Park store is where Valerie Gordon, maker of fine chocolates, cakes and preserves has decided to focus on tea, and sweet and savoury food that pairs well with it. Think afternoon tea without all of the pomp and circumstance. Think sandwiches like prosciutto with lemon butter and pickled asparagus, and fresh ricotta with caramelized fennel and smoked tomato, or dishes Moroccan chicken with kumquat rice, and black rice salad infused with sencha green tea.
It’s a cute soft pink and brown space, with a few seats and tables inside, as well as a patio with seating for 30 out the front. A range of chocolates, cakes and preserves will, of course, be offered too. We love almost all of the cakes here, especially the seasonal Earl Grey blueberry cake In fact it’s always hard to resist getting a little something to take home before you leave!
