LOS ANGELES | Yeastie Boys Bagels started out as a food truck serving gourmet bagels before finding a permenant spot alongside Alfred Coffee {In The Alley} in West Hollywood.
The bagels here are seriously good, with each lot of bagels taking two days to make. Dough is hand-rolled, proved overnight in a walk-in fridge, then boiled and baked the following day. The result is a bagel that’s chewy, moist and plump – just the way it should be.
It’s the fillings though, that really elevate Yeastie Boys’ bagels. There’s a lot of choice and a creative mixture of well balanced flavours. Try the ‘#2’, which features Michel Cordon Atlantic smoked salmon, with a lemon-chili-avocado spread, red onion cream cheese, sliced tomato and dill on a sesame bagel. For those with a sweet tooth, try the ‘#4′, a cinnamon bagel with a house-made marshmallow fluff and a salted honey and peanut butter.
The food truck still operates too (keep an eye on the Yeastie Boys’ social media pages for locations) and has a slightly different offering. Try the ‘Game Over’, a cheddar bagel filled with scrambled eggs, sliced tomato, bacon, beer cheese, and house jalapeño spread, or ‘The Milf’, a plain bagel with cream cheese, Nutella, and sliced bananas.
