LOS ANGELES | Spring St. Bar is located in the historic part of Downtown Los Angeles and brings a New York deli vibe to the area. The place is narrow, with a long bar extending along much of the interior and a mini patio for when you want to sit outside. People come here from two main reasons – the great drinks and the sandwiches. The rotating beer menu contains 26 mostly Californian taps plus bottles, while the wine and cocktail offering is very good too.
If it’s beer you’re after, the friendly staff will happily guide you through the list, and you can grab a tasting paddle if you want to try a few things. If it’s a cocktail you’re looking for, the menu changes regularly but if it’s available try the refreshing Peach, Please!, which contains Redemption Rye, house-made peach cordial, chamomile-infused Lilet blanc, and lemon juice served over ice.
Food wise it’s all about the sandwiches, whether you want a bite to eat while your’e drinking or are looking for a takeaway for lunch you won’t be disappointed no matter what you choose. Our favourite though has to be the Italiana, which contains leoncini mortadella, olli fennel salami, fra mani capicola, alps sweet soprasetta, provolone, spicy pickled peppers, tomato, red wine vinaigrette, lettuce and onion.
Our tip is to visit during happy hour. It runs from 3pm to 7pm daily and offers some great draft beers and glasses of wine.
