MEDELLIN | Iglesia De La Veracruz is a historic Catholic church in Medellin, notable for being one of the oldest churches in the city.

Construction of the church began in 1682, and it officially opened in 1712. Several years late the church was approaching ruin, and the original building was demolished in 1791. Rebuilding began in the same year, and in 1803, construction of the new Baroque church was completed. This is the structure that stands today. It was declared a national cultural heritage building on March 12, 1982.

Iglesia de la Veracruz is conveniently located in El Centro, near the Parque Berrio metro station on Line A. The Palacio De La Cultura Rafael Uribe Uribe, Museo de Antioquia and Plaza Botero are also located nearby and well worth visiting.
