BOGOTA | Amor Perfecto is Colombia’s largest specialty coffee distributor, and their coffee can be found in quality restaurants and cafes across Colombia. As well as supplying coffee, they also have a few cafes of their own, including one in Chapinero. Located in a residential street, the Chapinero Amor Perfecto looks a bit like a house, and that aesthetic carries on to the inside which features wooden and tiled floors, white walls, exposed bricks, and a few couches and tables.
The focus at Amor Perfecto is on Colombian regional specialty coffees, and each coffee is marked with the name of the farmers and their farms, along with detailed descriptions of growing conditions and flavour profiles. Everything is roasted to extract the best out of the beans, and coffee is brewed in a variety of methods – espresso, AeroPress, Chemex, V60, or French press. Beans are sourced ethically and fair trade, directly from coffee growers in 20 different regions across Colombia.
For food, it’s an assortment of cakes and pastries, including several Colombian favourites like a tasty torta de quesito con bocadillo (Colombian fresh cheese and guava paste cake), and very decent empanadas.
As well as the cafe, you’ll also find Amor Perfecto’s ‘Cafe Lab’ here. It’s a glass walled section in the back corner of the venue where workshops, events, coffee cuppings, and tastings are held.
Staff are friendly and, when we visited, spoke English, and are happy to talk through the blends and rotating seasonal options on offer at any given time. You can also purchase coffee beans to take home with you.
