TOKYO | Calibee is one of Japan’s largest snack brands, and have been producing snacks since 1949. Calibee Plus Harajuku is a store that sells a range of Calibee’s products, including their famous potato chips and Jagarico, a kind of crispy potato stick. As well as the popular items and flavours, the Harajuku store sells a range of products made freshly on site, and flavours that can’t be found elsewhere.
When you visit, make sure to get some agetate no potato chips, which are served straight from the fryer, with toppings like cheese, sour cream, maple syrup, butter, soft serve ice-cream, and chocolate. Poterico, also made fresh, are Jagarico with a similarly diverse range of toppings. Eat them fresh, then buy a few interesting things that take your fancy to take away. We love the wasabi-tofu flavored chips and, if you’re really looking for something interesting, try the Ebisen Chocolat – chocolate coated, shrimp-flavored crispy snacks. Despite how they sound, they are actually really good.
