SAN FRANCISCO | Cellarmaker Brewing Company is the place to come if you’re into beers that are big on hops. The venue is small, with the brick and wood taproom out the front being a cozy place to try the beers, especially if you can nab a seat at the bar and chat to the friendly bar staff.

Across 17 taps you’ll find a range of beers, including several of their famous IPAs. The Mo’ series beers pair Mosaic Hops with a rotating roster of hops like Citra and Nelson for a beer full of well balanced dankness. The Double Dry Hopped Dobis meanwhile is a 7.2% easy drinking, juicy Citra hop based beer that’s full of tropical, piney goodness.

If you’re not a fan of IPAs, never fear, as Cellarmaker brew a solid range of fantastic across a range of styles. Coffee and Cigarettes is an 8.5% Smoked Coffee Porter that adds locally roasted Sightglass coffee to a chocolatey, roasted base beer that’s absolutely delicious. Their barrel aged ‘Vastness of Space’ Imperial Stouts are also fantastic. For those looking for something light, the European-style Saazel Tov! hits the spot nicely.

Beers are available in 5oz tasters, half pints or pints, and the knowledgeable staff are more than happy to talk you through the beers if you need some guidance. The venue is strictly for those 21 and older only, and unfortunately for non-beer drinkers, Cellarmaker’s “small beer manufacturer” alcohol license only allows them to serve beers brewed in house. No guest taps, no wine, no spirits.

There’s no kitchen, but if you’re hungry you can order in food from a number of nearby restaurants.
