LONDON | The creative team behind Chin Chin Labs in Camden have just opened up a new ice cream parlour in Soho called Chin Chin Dessert Club Soho. Set on bustling Greek Street, the interior of London’s first dessert club is covered in bright gold and beautiful floor to ceiling marble. There is also bleacher-type seating for those who want to enjoy their ice cream inside.
Chin Chin Labs became an instant favorite with foodies and Instagrammers because of their liquid nitrogen ice cream that is served in fun and wacky ways. They also put ice cream sandwiches (called Bronwiches for the use of their delicious brownies) on the map. More than just a fad though, there’s a method to this madness. Being whipped fast with liquid nitrogen makes the ice cream at Chin Chin Labs a lot creamier than traditionally whipped ice cream.
Given the number of trendy ice cream spots emerging in the last year on London’s food scene, we were eager to see whether the guys behind Chin Chin Labs were able to carry on their tradition of making glorious ice cream in their new digs.
We are happy to report that Chin Chin Club Soho is a must-try for ice cream lovers. The menu at the club is a mix of the classics served at Chin Chin Labs, such as Bronwiches and hot chocolate with torched marshmallows, together with new items such as avo tacos (purple corn tacos filled with avocado ice cream and topped with house cream and crunchy fried corn), miracle cones (sugar-free ice cream served in cones which miraculously taste sweet once a small pill is taken) and ice cream choux-buns (handmade choux buns filled with pistachio and olive oil ice cream).
We tried the Brownwich with a scoop of burnt butter caramel ice cream and a slice of red velvet buttercream cake dipped in dark chocolate, which was served with a side scoop of valrhona chocolate ice cream. Both desserts were delicious and left us wanting more, and we can’t wait to come back and try everything else on the menu.
