CHICAGO | Looking for a good laugh and a show that shocks? Head to Stage 773 in the Belmont Theatre District for raunchy musical, Cupid Has a Heart On. Created by Stage 773’s creative director, Brian Posen, the show uses a series of musical sketches to spotlight some of the harsh truths and insecurities that come with dating in the modern age. The sketches are comical and there is bound to be at least one you’ll find you can relate to – from the white lies girls tell to the inner thoughts and expectations people bring to third dates.
We were invited to attend the show and enjoyed the intimate setting of Stage 773. Throughout the show, the cast interacts heavily with the audience. It’s hilarious (unless it’s you, maybe). Much awkwardness ensues and you’ll likely find yourself avoiding eye contact or risk being the center of several sexual innuendos or advances!
Adding to the entertainment is the fact that every performer is talented when it comes to vocals, and you’ll hear some of the dirtiest phrases carried by the most beautiful voices. What’s more, you can grab a drink at Pop’s Bar in the lobby and bring it with you into the auditorium likely edging up the hilarity even more.
Chicago’s longest-running musical comedy, the show is live every Saturday at 8:00pm. It runs about 90 minutes, with a short intermission. Interested? Buy tickets here and consider carefully who you want to bring along. This is possibly not the best first date idea, but maybe consider it for the fifth or sixth. The City Lane Chicago believes this show would be at home on any bachelor/bachelorette party weekend itinerary.
