NEW YORK CITY | Devoción is one of our favourite spots for coffee in NYC. We visited the original in Bogota, Colombia, two years ago and were excited when we found out that they had four cafes in NYC. The interior of the Williamsburg cafe features lots of natural lighting, greenery, exposed brick walls, wooden tables, and leather couches. There’s calming background music and a lot of character. It’s an impressive space that you want to spend time in.
Devoción buy coffee directly from about 400 farms across Colombia, and ship them directly NYC where they are roasted within 10 to 30 days of their peak ripeness. The result is some of the best, freshest coffee around. Coffee is brewed in a variety of ways – French press, pour-over V60, Rancillio and Kees van der Westen espresso machines.
There’s also interesting non coffee drinks like aromaticas (a Colombian version of tea made by steaming water with fresh fruit, chunks of which go in the cup), cascara tea made with sun-dried coffee cherries, and salpicon, a mixture of orange juice and fruit chunks.
For food, it’s a small selection pastries, including some Colombian creations. You can also purchase freshly roasted beans to-go.
