LONDON | Home Delivery services and apps have swept the UK by storm in recent years, and we were recently given the opportunity to test the home delivery pilot of JustEat, a service that offers a wide range of cuisines from some of the UK’s most popular independent and chain take away spots.

It was a tough choice, as it usually is, scouring through the list of takeaways around our area before deciding on an unfamiliar but delicious sounding and high user rated spot called Dinner Express, offering a fusion of Indian and Nepalese food. The menu contains an extensive selection of affordable, vibrant, and delicious Indian staples such as the Vindaloo, Madras, Jalfrezi and Tandoori Mixed Grill. We ordered Tandoori chicken wings, Battered squid, Tandoori King Prawn, Shahi Lamb Shank, Onion Bhajiya, Special Mushroom Rice and Garlic Naan Bread. Nepalese twists compliment things nicely, and provide a bit of contrast to the more familiar Indian flavours.

Delivery was fast and efficient, taking shorter than the usual Pan Asian dishes we order from other restaurants. Upon the delivery, we were hit with aromas of spice and could not wait to devour the dishes. Each dish looked carefully concocted, rich in colour, smell and portion size. The first dish we decided to eat were the onion bhajiyas, which were delicately crispy and packed with flavour. Next were the Tandoori prawns, which were succulent and moreish, followed the Tandoori chicken wings, which were some of the best we’ve tried due to the unique blend of flavours and spicy kick after each bite. The star dish of the night however, was the Shahi Lamb Shank – tender, succulent meat that effortlessly fell off the bone, served in a pool of green chilli and herbs. The only lowlight of the meal was that squid, which was cakey from the flour and herb seasoning, flat and nondescript.

All up, we were impressed by our meal from Dinner Express, and will definitely consider ordering from them again. Affordable dishes, generous portions, and great taste. It’s pretty much thumbs up all round. If you feel like ordering from Dinner Express and having it delivered to your door, make sure to check out the menu on Just Eat.
