OAKLAND | Diving Dog Brewhouse is a bar and brewery in downtown Oakland with a difference. Not only can you drink the beers that Diving Dog brew, but you can also brew your own.
There are 30 taps (two of which are nitro) pouring the best of what Diving Dog has to offer along with guest taps pouring other local brews from the likes of Almanac, The Bruery, and Beachwood. If you want to look beyond the taps, there’s a very good selection of cans and bottles. As is the case with most brewpubs, you can go for tasting paddles if you want the chance to sample a few different things. Check out the Telegraph Tajin, a 5.9% ABV Gose brewed with sea salt and tajin, and the Curious Haze, a 7.0% ABV New England style IPA.
There’s no kitchen on site, but you are free to bring in outside food so it’s not really a problem. Keep an eye out for food and beer events, which see Diving Dog team up with local chefs to put on the occasional popup.
As for he DIY brewing, customers can brew on the equipment at Diving Dog regardless of their brewing experience – Diving Dog provides the recipe, equipment, ingredients, and instruction, making for a fun, and ultimately delicious experience.
