Fat Tuesday New Orleans Festival Returns To Melbourne In 2016

MELBOURNE | What’s better than a regular Tuesday? A New Orleans inspired Fat Tuesday of course! Returning for its 5th year in 2016 at Carlton’s Piazza Italia is the Fat Tuesday New Orleans Festival. Last year’s event was a resounding success and this year’s celebration of New Orleans food, booze, music and culture promises to be bigger and better, and thanks to the organisers, we have a VIP double pass to give away!

The event is brought to Melbourne by the brains behind Ding Dong Lounge and Po’ Boy Quarter so you know there’s some real passion for New Orleans behind the whole operation. A range of Southern American inspired food will be on offer from Po’ Boy Quarter, Girl With The Gris Gris, Bluebonnet Barbecue and The Taco Truck.

Entertainment will be in the form of live musical performances by Bayou Tapestry, Jazz Party, Horns Of Leroy, The Always For Pleasure Allstars, Gumbo Blues Band, and Skyscraper Stan & The Commission Flats while RocKwiz Supremo Brian Nankervis will host the event. There will also be music played by local DJ’s Mohair Slim (PBS) and Bruce Milne (RRR). If that’s not enough there will also be a funky second line brass band parade, a fortune-teller’s booth and a costume competition.

Tickets are $22.00 plus booking fee via Eventbrite or $28.00 at the door, with entry for kids under 15 free if accompanied by an adult. All in all it sound like a great night out and we know we’ll be there. If you spot us in the crowd say hi!

To win the VIP double pass, which provides entry and access to the VIP area where drinks and food will be provided, simply follow The City Lane on Facebook and comment here about which New Orleans food specialty is your favourite, and tag in a friend. Winners will be notified this Friday 5 February 2016.
