CHICAGO | Established in 1995 in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, Intelligentsia serve up seasonal blends and single batch coffee across Chicago, as well as in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and San Francisco. Two decades since its inception, Intelligentsia now draws on each of these cities to inspire its values and personality.

Intelligentsia were one of the first coffee companies in the US to adopt Direct Trade and Fair Trade practices, which sees them deal directly with growers to ensure that growers get a fair price for their coffee beans, and that innovations in farming and growing can be adopted by everyone in the supply chain. It also means that Intelligentsia’s staff travel the globe to source beans themselves, and are always finding the best stuff out there.

As for how the coffee actually tastes, well Intelligentsia serve up some of the best coffee in town. From their smooth espresso based drinks to the Japanese influenced filter coffees and matcha lattes, you’re always guaranteed a good cup of coffee here.

With six shops sprawled throughout Chicago, you’re sure to discover one near to you. For us, the Old Town store in Plum Market is a favourite, with lots of natural light and a non-fussy, modern interior making it a great space to enjoy a coffee, relax, or get some work done.
