CANBERRA | Jones & Co. is the former Me & Mrs Jones reincarnated as a modern and stylish restaurant and bar – think New York style bistro. The focus is on high quality spirits and cocktails, and a seasonal modern Australian menu created by co-owner and chef Dan McConnell, featuring fresh, local produce delivered with simple, elegant flavours.
Those who want a drink and snack can sit at the bar, while the more formal, but not stuff seating offers an option for those who want a proper meal. We visited for a weekend breakfast (there’s no breakfast during the week), and were impressed with our food. The brioche French toast with grilled banana, maple bacon, vanilla mascarpone, and burnt butter snow, was a highlight with a perfect balance of flavours, no one element overpowering another.
For lunch and dinner, we’ve heard great things about the house made gnocchi, freshly shucked oysters, and steak tartare with raw egg yolk and Tabasco.
