CHICAGO | Links Taproom Wicker Park appears to be a standard sports bar when you enter, but one look at the draft list reveals that it’s much more than that. The bar offers 36 American craft beers on tap at any given time, as well as three on cask, and for non-beer drinkers there are five tap wines along with cocktails and spirits. It’s about a 50/50 split between local and other American breweries represented on the taps – beer makers like One Trick Pony, Spiteful, and Half Acre share the taps with breweries like Allagash, Firestone Walker, and Prairie.
The bottle list is equally as impressive as the draft list, and contains several pages of large format beers that are designed to share, as well as beers to enjoy solo. There are some rare and fantastic beauties on here, when we visited the list included beers like the Cascade Sang Royal 2014 and The Bruery Oude Tart 2013.
The food menu features a variety of classic pub grub, but the highlight here, as the name might give away, are the house made sausages. If you come with a few friends we highly recommend the “Party Time Sausage Trey”, which gives you six different types of sausages along with fries, pickles, three toppings, 2 mustards, and two dips.
The staff are passionate about beer and know their stuff, so feel free to ask for some help if you’re not sure what you want, or get straight into it.
