LIMA | Maitea is a small Basque/Peruvian fusion tapas bar in the heart of Miraflores. Maitea which means “love” in Basque, focuses on the love of good food, good drink and great company.
The only contains a few high tables and stools, however it has a very energetic vibe and is filled with locals every night of the week. The Basque influences are apparent with a great selection of Pintxos available with the purchase of a drink. The selection of Pinxtos varies daily depending upon the ingredients that look the best at the market on that day, and Maitea also has a small lunch time menu available.
Drinks wise, there’s a focus on quality wines, but impressively there are also a few taps serving local craft beers as well as the standard offerings. It’s this attention to detail with both the drinks and food, along with the real locals vibe and friendly service, that makes Maitea well worth a visit when you’re in Lima.
