MEDELLIN | Mercado del Tranvía is a restaurant and bar ‘market’ that opened in October 2017 along the Ayacucho tram line in Medellin’s Caicedo neighbourhood. It’s run by the same people behind Mercado del Río, which opened a year earlier, and Mercado Del Rio La Strada, which opened in July 2018.

The market is housed in an abandoned warehouse that was once home to a popular nightclub, Estadero Jardín Clarita. It was built using 80% recycled materials and has the capacity to fit 450 people. The 520 square metre two level space is home to 21 restaurants and bars specialising in cuisine from all over the world.

Popular restaurants that have branches at Mercado del Tranvía include Carbone e Pasta, Peru Mix and Chilaquiles. It’s all very causual, and there’s something for everyone no matter what you feel like eating or drinking.
