BOGOTA | Museo Casa de Moneda in Bogota’s La Candelaria neighbourhood focuses on Colombian currency and is home to the country’s Colección Numismática. The museum was founded in 1621 as the city’s mint, and today takes visitors through the history of money in Colombia. The museum starts with pre-Columbian exchanges of household and everyday items through to the design and production of modern banknotes and coins in use today.

It’s a small museum that forms part of the larger complex of museums housed in the city’s former colonial-era Central Bank building, such as Museo Botero. Not all of the information panels have English translations at the moment, but a project is currently being undertaken to upgrade all displays to be bilingual.
