CHINCHERO | Plaza de Chinchero is located in the centre of the town of Chinchero and is the focal point for the town’s attractions. During the day the plaza is filled with local women selling hand made textiles and fabrics, which the region is famous for.
On one side of the plaza is the colonial era Church of Our Lady of Monserrat, which dates back to 1607. It stands where the palace of the Inca Tupac Yupanqui was located. Behind the church you’ll find the Centro Arqueológico de Chinchero (Archeological Park of Chinchero), one of the most important examples of Inca agricultural technology in the world.
