MELBOURNE | Royal Stacks is one of our favourite spots in town for a burger, and ever since a branch opened in Brunswick East, its become our preferred location, mainly due to convenience.
What makes this store different than the CBD one? The menu is essentially the same – eight tasty American, Shake Shack style burgers, doughnut and waffle stacks, frozen custards and concretes. Beef is 100% Australian pasture fed and minced daily, and the rest of the ingredients are sourced from quality, local producers too.
The ‘Single Stack’ is a great simple burger – a beef patty, tomato, butter lettuce, American cheddar, pickles, and special burger sauce. Our favourite however is the ‘The King’ – it’s a Single Stack that ditches the pickles and adds mustard and a mac & cheese croquette. It’s surprisingly well balanced and hits the spot every time. The burgers are quite customisable too – you can add things like bacon, extra cheese, pickles, and grilled onions.
Sides are simple and include fries, potato gems, cheese fries, and cheese gems.
The main difference here is that, unlike the CBD Royal Stacks, owner Dani Zeni has decided to make the Brunswick one halal. No booze, no pork, and halal certified beef means that those from the local Muslim community can eat here.
