TOKYO | Shozo Coffee Store is a hole in the wall cafe in Aoyama, essentially a small wooden hut just big enough to house some coffee making equipment, pastry counter and a few stools, with some further seating in a garden-like converted lane way next to the shop. Originating in Tochigi prefecture just north of Tokyo in 1988, Shozo’s Tokyo store offers excellent quality drip filter coffee along with a few pastries and cakes.
An outlet of the fantastic Blue Bottle Coffee is located just next door to Shozo, and while we’re big fans of Blue Bottle Coffee, it’s hard to go past the quaint charm of Shozo when faced with the two side by side. If you’re looking something more, wander down the lane way and you’ll find Commune 246, a collection of food and drink spots including a craft beer bar, vegan food cart, and French fry truck.
