MELBOURNE | Shujinko originally opened as 24 hour ramen joint, Menya Sandaime before closing for a few weeks and re-opening with a wider focus.

Walk inside and you feel like you’ve been transported into one of Japan’s urban basement Izakayas. It’s super authentic with a low roof, low lighting, anime figures dotted around the bar and an overall feel and look that’s just right. Service is fast, friendly and attentive and the food is all very tasty.

The good news is that Shujinko is still open 24 hours, and still focuses on great ramen. The tonkotsu and black ramen are two of our favourite things on the menu, while the okonomiyaki impresses too. Late night (or early morning) dining in Melbourne has never been better.
