PERTH | Sneaky Tony’s is a Prohibition-era themed bar hidden in Northbridge’s Chinatown, and is named after Prohibition rum-runner Anthony “Tony the Hat” Cornero Stralla. It’s behind owner Clint Nolan’s restaurant Pleased To Meet You, and accessed via an unmarked door down an unmarked alley off Nick’s Lane. Grab the password off Facebook, ring the doorbell, and it’s like stepping back in time.

The theme is done well, and the bar has all the hallmarks of Nolan’s other themed bars, Alabama Song Bar and Joe’s Juice Joint. That is, quality drinks, knowledgeable staff, and a great atmosphere. It’s just as well the staff are knowledgeable, as the bar is stocked with over 300 different rums from around the world. Straight up, on the rocks, or in a cocktail, the staff can help you find exactly the drink you’re looking for, and for those who don’t like rum, there are other spirits, whiskey and beer.

As for the space itself, well it’s low lit, with exposed brick walls, on-theme decor, couches and 1920s-30s music. Filled with people as it often is it makes for a lively place to enjoy a drink or two.

For those wanting a bite to eat, there’s a few bar snacks, burgers, and complimentary peanuts.
