Support Charity With The 2016/17 Entertainment Book

AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND | The Entertainment Book has always been very popular in Australia and New Zealand, giving people the opportunity to dine at a variety of restaurants in their city while saving money with great deals. It’s not just restaurants that the guide offers, but also a range of experiences ranging from cafes, takeaway, arts, attractions, hotels, travel and shopping.

What you might not know is that the Entertainment Book is run by a not-for profit organisation and 20% of all proceeds from the sale of the Entertainment Book go to schools, hospitals, sport clubs and charities. The City Lane has teamed up with the Entertainment Book to help raise money for our charity partner, Opportunity International Australia (“Opportunity”).

At The City Lane we’ve always wanted to work with a charity whose work we truly believe in, and it’s for this reason that we have chosen to partner with Opportunity. Being a small business ourselves we understand how hard it is to get things going, and for someone living in poverty the challenges are so much greater. The fact that Opportunity not only provides microloans to budding entrepreneurs in poverty, but also provides them small business/finance education and knowledge really goes a long way towards ensuring that the cycle of poverty is broken. Everyone with an idea and a desire to better their station in life deserves a chance and Opportunity provides this.

The 2016/17 edition of the Entertainment Book (you can choose a physical book or a digital membership accessible via the Entertainment Book iOS or Android app) comes out this month and is available for the following Australian and New Zealand cities:

Paul founded The City Lane back in 2009 as a place to share photos of his travels around Europe with friends and family. The City Lane might have changed quite a lot since those early days but one thing that’s remained constant is Paul’s passion for food, travel and culture, and a desire to photograph and write about his experiences. Paul has a strong inquisitive nature that drives him to look beneath the surface in order to discover what really makes a city and its people tick, and what better way to do this than over a good meal or drink, with a city’s locals, at places that people who live in that city actually frequent. Paul is also a co-host of The Brunswick Beer Collective, a podcast that may or may not actually be about beer.
