TOKYO | Tap Stand Craft Beer & Pizza Shinjuku is a haven for craft beer drinkers in a part of town which has historically been a bit of a black spot as far as good beer goes. Located very close to Shinjuku JR station, Tap Stand features 22 taps of local and foreign (mostly American) beers to entice craft beer drinkers in the area.

The venue is small, with seating at the bar and window (perfect for watching the busy Tokyo street life) along with a few tables – all up it holds around 40 people. There are a lot of interesting beers on tap at any given time, covering a wide range of styles to appeal to both new and seasoned craft beer drinkers. There are also a few rotating bottles. Food, as the name suggests, focuses around pizzas, with toppings like pulled pork and jalapeno, soft shell crab, lamb, and tomato, rocket and prosciutto.

Do be aware that Tap Stand’s convenient location for tourists and travellers means that it gets very busy, and prices here are at the higher end of the Tokyo craft beer scale (there’s also a ¥300 cover charge).
