PERTH | The Brisbane Hotel opened in 1898 and has well and truly developed into an icon of the area over the years. After falling into disarray by the 1980s, the Brisbane underwent extensive renovations in 2004 which transformed it into a modern space while utilising the bones of the historical building. That renovation has aged well and the space is still appealing 15 years on.
The highlight is the outdoor courtyard, with a garden aesthetic and large tables, while the main bar, which opens out to the courtyard is also a great spot to nab a seat. The drinks selection contains an assortment of wine, beer and spirits, including a few taps of surprising rarities and seasonal beer releases from Western Australia and interstate.
For food its a selection of pub classics done well – think share plates, salads, pasta, pizza, and large plates.
For some extra fun check out Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den upstairs, which showcases local, interstate and occasionally international comedy acts weekly, including several up and coming comediens.
