SAN DIEGO | The Lime is a tequila bar in San Diego’s Gaslamp quarter that stocks over 100 tequilas and serves over 30 variations of margaritas. The small venue doesn’t look like much, but if you’re looking to get an appreciation for tequila, and learn more about the oft-misunderstood spirit, it’s got what you need.
There are tequilas from all over Mexico and the USA at the lime, ranging the whole array of styles and prices. Our advice is to have a chat to the friendly and knowledgeable staff who will put together a tasting paddle for you, and give you a good idea of what to expect from each tequila you’re trying. Once you’ve pinpointed the one you like most, go back to the bar and ask to try a few more things in that style.
If you want a cocktail, there’s a good variety of tequila based cocktail on offer here. For us a simple margarita takes on a whole new meaning when quality tequila is used.
Of course, if you just want a few cheap infused tequila shots en route to somewhere else, you can do that here too, but it really would be a waste when there’s so much amazing, complex tequila (and mezcal) on offer.
