NEW BUFFALO | The Stray Dog Bar & Grill has been providing locals and visitors to New Buffalo a fun, casual, family friendly space in which to chill out and socialise for over 15 years. The place was destroyed due to an electrical fire in 2012, but the community banded together and less than a year later, the newly rebuit venue was up and running, with many of the old staff returning to work, and a lot of nods to the original structure. When the weather is good, there’s a spacious rooftop terrace to enjoy the views of Lake Michigan.
Food is classic American pub food, like salads, buffalo wings, nachos, burgers, pizzas and tacos etc. Beer wise, the impressive tap list features an assortment of beers, including several local brews which you don’t see on tap that often. 24 taps means there’s something for everyone, and non-beer drinkers aren’t forgotten either with a small but quality selection of wine and spirits available.
It’s a great place to head for a drink or for lunch or dinner, but do be aware that there are no bookings taken – all tables are for walk ins on a first come first served basis.
