LONDON | Twisted London is the first ever delivery-only restaurant from a social channel, and we were recently invited to attend the launch. Twisted was founded in March 2016 by Jungle Creations and first began purely as a Facebook page. Twisted now has over eight million followers across its various social media channels, thanks to its innovative recipe videos that entertain and inspire its audience. Twisted has also collaborated with many well-known food and drink brands, including Cadbury, Doritos, Oreo and Baileys. The next logical step was to bring Twisted’s creations to life for both fans and those new to the Twisted brand.
Twisted London is available via the food delivery apps, UberEats and Deliveroo, within a two-mile radius of E1 near Aldgate East and will be based at parent company Jungle Creations’ headquarters in East London.
The menu for Twisted London is a fusion of different flavours from around the world and features, in a nod to its name, indulgent dishes with a “Twist”. There are seven burgers on the menu with each bearing a different theme, including “The Money Shot” (a take on the classic cheeseburger), “The Fu Manchu” features Asian flavours including sweet and sour crispy beef and kimchi mayo, while the “Hot Swayzee” includes ghost chilli buffalo drenched buttermilk chicken and a blue cheese sauce.
There are plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians too, including the “Seoul Vings” (a vegan take on chicken wings), the “KFV” burger features a crispy vegan “chicken” fillet with avocado and chilli jam, while the “Al Green” is a kale based salad with charred broccoli, avocado and hemp oil.
The menu also includes a number of Twisted Pots, such as the grilled BBQ chicken sitting on a papaya salad with a lime ranch dressing, corn on the cob and BBQ sauce and the hearty Korean Slow Cooked Beef with rice, kimchi mayo and red cabbage slaw. Desserts on offer include apple crumble waffles, a rainbow cheesecake and a salted caramel cookie dough brownie.
Tom Ewer, Head Chef at Twisted London, has said: “This is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. Over the past 15 years cooking in London; moving from fine dining to brasserie and cool brunch hangouts, I have pretty much experienced all the London food scene has to offer. Twisted London had me from the moment I heard about it, I spent much time at the beginning just absorbing the feel and millennial vibe of the social media video channel. So when I started developing the menu with my very knowledgeable GM and all the team from Twisted and Jungle Creations; I felt I had a strong understanding of the direction this menu needed to move in. And now if you cut me I bleed smoked cheese sauce!”
