AUCKLAND | Little & Friday is the brainchild of Kim Evans, who started operating out of a small vacant butcher’s shop on Fridays, selling the good that she and her friends and family baked on a Thursday. From this humble beginning Kim now runs four Litte & Fridays across Auckland.

The philosophy behind Little & Friday is simple – to make everything from scratch, be transparent with customers about the providence of all ingredients, and use only locally sourced, fresh, free-range and organic (where possible) produce. The Ponsonby location is hidden down a suburban back street and is white, bright and airy. A glass counter displays all of the baked goodies on sale and a small selection of made-to-order dishes are also available.

The most famous thing that people visit Little & Friday for are the doughnuts. These brioche dough fried treats live up to the hype, with a beautifully fluffy interior and crispy exterior. The filings aren’t overly sweet, and present in just the right amount to be perfectly balanced with the cake portion. The coffee flavour is especially delicious, as are the classic jam and custard ones.

Speaking of coffee, the espresso which is simply served either black or white using Coffee Supreme beans, is delicious. If you don’t want coffee, a range of Fine + Dandy teas, Six Barrel Soda sodas, and a tasty chai latte are also available.

Note: Little & Friday’s Ponsonby location has permanently closed, but you can still visit the Newmarket and Belmont locatoins.
