AUCKLAND | Andrew Andrew is a bar on Princes Wharf that has a lot to offer those looking for a drink that’s a cut above the usual offering of many bars. It’s a small venue, with lots of couches and cozy seating arrangement along with bar and stool seating. The inside is low lit, and opens out into the small front courtyard. It might be on the waterfront, but the venue actually backs onto a car park rather than the water, and is in a bit of a hidden spot.

The thing that first drew our attention to Andrew Andrew was the beer list. There are six taps featuring a rotating selection of mostly New Zealand beers, and around 15 bottled beers at any given time featuring an assortment of New Zealand and intentional brews. The craft beer offering certainly isn’t as extensive as some other spots in town, but it’s all quality, with a diverse range of beer styles and breweries being offered. Usual suspects include breweries like Epic, 8 Wired, Halelrtau, and Tuatara.

For those not into beer, equal effort has been put into the other drinks on the menu. The wine list features an assortment of local wines that have been picked by the staff so there’s good knowledge about what’s on offer at any given time. The spirit and cocktail list is also a cut above the standard. For food, Andrew Andrew’s offers a small range of tasty bar snacks like wedges, meat balls, halloumi and egg plant skewers, and salt & pepper squid.

A relaxing spot, hidden away from the crowds, with great drinks, tasty snacks, and a relaxed atmosphere make Andrew Andrew a great choice for a drink any day of the week.
