CHICAGO | Au Cheval is modern diner-style bar that’s become a national hit for good reasons. With refined diner food, a focus on amazing eggs, quality burgers and an extensive draught beer list, this eatery has a multitude of options for guests to try. Au Cheval has a variety of entrees including: roasted bone marrow, chopped chicken liver, and a series of egg-focused dishes. They are, however, best known for the signature burger containing W.W. Johnson Farm prime beef, local sourced buns, dijonnaise (mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice mix), and house made pickles. Often referred to as the best burger of ChiTown, Au Cheval takes the eater on taste bud journey by offering amazing food that is paired with an equally outstanding bar program. We at The City Lane, along with the rest of Chicagoans, are not alone in our love for the restaurant and their famous burger. In 2015 Food Network proclaimed Au Cheval as the holder of the best burger in America.

This dimly lit restaurant gives visitors a unique experience and intimate experience. From the open set kitchen to their vintage reel-to-reel soundtrack, Au Cheval is a spot every local should visit. However, there is almost always a 1+ hour wait at Au Cheval. Pro Tip: Arrive at restaurant open, put your name down to be contacted when a table is ready, and go explore The West Loop. Alternatively, visit during non-peak times – 3pm on a weekday for example, and you’ll be able to avoid queuing.
