MELBOURNE | Beermash has changed a lot since opening in 2014, with an offering that’s seen it evolve into one of Melbourne’s best craft beer venues. Beermash was originally focused on takeaway beer, cider, and kombucha growler refills along with a small packaged selection, but today it’s much more than that.

Owners Kieran Hennessy and Shayne Dixon have transformed Beermash into a bar and bottle shop, with a focus not only on takeaway beer, but quality beverages that you can enjoy on site. On the 20 taps you’ll find an assortment of beer from across Australia and further afar, covering an assortment of styles to keep almost everyone happy. Think breweries like Pirate Life, Hop Nation, Moon Dog, Omnipollo, Brewski, and Mikkeller. Thankfully Beermash offers 150ml pours too, which means you can try a few of the interesting things on tap without needing to commit to a full pot or pint, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff are always happy to talk you through the list and provide recommendations.

If there’s nothing on the taps that tickles your fancy, there’s an assortment of over 200 bottles and cans in the fridges and on the shelves. The range spans from accessible to experimental, common to rare, local to importoed. The tap and bottle range rotates regularly, so there’s always something new to try. If you’re not into beer, Beermash offers a fantastic selection of craft spirits, along with a few wines and cocktails, some of which occasionally appear on the taps. Growler refills are still available, and everything in the fridges and on the shelves is available to take home.

There are card games like Cards Against Humanity and Exploding Kittens available to play, and seating options from high tables and stools inside to alfreso seating and tables out the front. As a bonus, directly upstairs you’ll find one the best cocktail bars in Melbourne, Above Board.

Keep an eye out on Beermash’s Facebook and Instagram pages where you’ll find details of special events like beer launches and tap takeovers. These are held quite regularly and often see beers on tap that have never been poured before in Melbourne.
