CHICAGO | Blue Chicago is a blues bar in River North that’s been providing visitors with authentic live Chicago blues music since 1985. For the uninitiated, Chicago blues is an electric blues style of urban blues that evolved following the “Great Migration in the early 20th century of African Americans from the southern US to cities in the north.

Blue Chicago highlights a variety of artists every night of the week, with a particular focus on female vocalists. There’s a cover charge of around $8 but it’s well worth it to see some fantastic live music. The room is small and low lit, with a mixture of seating and standing room. The stage is at the back of the venue but the small size of the spot means you get a good view no matter where you are.

A full bar means you can enjoy a drink while you enjoy the tunes, but do be aware that no food is served.
