PERTH | Bob’s Bar is located on the rooftop of Print Hall – the building which used to house the offices and printing presses of the West Australian newspaper. It’s named after ex P.M. Bob Hawke, and is one of our favourite bars in Perth. The view is fantastic, with a real urban feel when you’re nestled amongst the skyscrapers of St Georges Terrace, but there’s more to Bob’s Bar than just the view.
The drinks menu is fantastic, with a focus on craft beer along with great wine, spirits and cocktails. 10 rotating taps provide an interesting array of mostly local along with interstate, and international beers, while the 20 or so can selection features interesting drops from close and far – think breweries like Rocky Ridge, Kaiju, Colonial, Six Point, and Rogue. For non-beer drinkers the wine list is small but full of quality across a range of styles, and the impressive cocktails are also worth checking out. The gin and tonics here are always great and we love the red and white sangria.
The food here is very good, with an assortment of options suitable for those wanting just a snack or something more substantial. The whipped cod roe, salmon caviar, lemon, Turkish toast is very tasty, as is ‘Bob’s share board’ which comes with spicy nduja, croquettes, potted duck, house pickles, salumi, toast. The lunchtime ‘Bob’s Box’, which gets you a cheeseburger, fries, wings and a beer is also a good bet if you’re here in the middle of the day.
Given it’s location the crowd here skews towards to long lunch and post-work office end of the scale but the staff are always friendly and the atmosphere always pretty chilled. A great option any day of the week.
