CANBERRA | Brew Nation is one of Canberra’s newest craft beer bars, from Shai Lambert and Al Kirk of tiny bar Hutch at The Hamlet. The space is modern with a light grey and white colour palate of exposed concrete and tiles and a mixture of table and stool seating. Low back-lighting and flourishes of wood and exposed red brick serve to keep the mood friendly and relaxed.
On the nine taps you’ll find predominantly Canberra beers pouring – think Bentspoke, Pact Beer, Capital Brewing, and Zierholz, while the can and bottle selection features a decent range of beers from craft breweries across Australia. Keep an eye out for tap takeovers from other Australian breweries too, often featuring beers that haven’t been poured on tap in Canberra before.
Despite beer being the primary focus, there’s also a focused selection of quality wines and spirits for those in the mood for something else. Food wise it’s just a few snacks – pretzels and a cheese platter.
