CHICAGO | When Corridor Brewery & Provisions opened in West Lakeview in 2015 it was a welcome addition to the ever-changing Southport Corridor and has been a favorite watering hole since. The seasonal house-brewed beers are made on-site, with 12 tanks displayed behind the bar that are not just for show.
Given the shifting beer menu, we like to start with a beer flight before settling on a pint. The bar offers six beers on draft, the flight includes one of each, which are also available in 32 ounce cans and 64 ounce growlers. The inspiration for Corridor’s beers stem from rustic farmhouse breweries and focuses on farmhouse ales and hop forward beers.
Corridor is the second venture for both Head Brewer Brent Dubovick and Chef Joel Pillar, with DryHop Brewers opening in East Lakeview in 2013. Greg Shuff, Corridor’s proprietor, has been brewing beer since his college years and continues to hone his craft, alongside Dubovick and Pillar. Chef Pillar’s food menu features a variety of gastropub fare, with shared plates highlighting upscale Midwest favorites such as buffalo fried cauliflower and cheese curds, soft pretzels with spicy brown mustard and Belgian beer cheese, and a variety of artisan pizzas. Brunch is offered on Saturdays and Sundays, and we’re big fans of the chicken and waffles with honey sriracha hot sauce and maple syrup.
When we are looking for some distance from the Wrigleyville crowds to celebrate a Cub’s win, this is one of our go-to destinations. Corridor features bar seating, larger booths in the back that are ideal for groups, and an outdoor space along Southport Avenue.
