NEW YORK CITY | DeKalb Market Hall is an impressive 60,000 square foot food hall in Brooklyn with over 40 local vendors, including the first non-original location for New York City icon Katz’s Delicatessen. The space is set up well, with vendors dotted around lots of seating and standing space for people to enjoy their food (having said that it can still get overcrowded at peak times). It’s a mixture of establish restaurants and newcomers here, and the variety of food on offer is impressive. The space is licensed too, so you’ll be able to enjoy a drink with your food.

There’s a lot to recommend here, and the quality of the vendors is high so you’ll be pretty happy if you go for what you feel like at the time. If you want some pointers though, we do have some tips for you. The pastrami and Ruben at Katz’s are as good as the original, although you do lose that special atmosphere of the original location. The Arepa Lady (Maria Piedad Cano) serves up fantastic arepas and Fletcher’s do a selection of tasty barbecued meats.

Pierogi Boys serve up great versions of the classic Polish dumpling while Wilma Jean serve up some very tasty Southern food. Smashed burgers from Hard Times Sundaes are always a good idea, as are the delicious bao from Bunsmith. For drinks visit the cocktail bar, Brooklyn Wine Cellar, or craft beer specialists Craft + Carry.

DeKalb Market Hall is located in the basement of the City Point retail centre, which also houses a Trader Joe’s, Target, Alamo Drafthouse, Century 21 and more.
