NEW YORK CITY | Grimm Artisanal Ales is Brooklyn-based brewery founded in 2013 by Joe and Lauren Grimm after nearly a decade of experimental brewing. They operated as a gypsy brewery for five years, before opening their permanent brewery and taproom in East Williamsburg.
Grimm specialise in concise, elegant, experimental ales, across a variety of styles and flavours. At the minimalist, light and plant filled taproom you’ll find 18 beers on tap, along with limited bottles. 4oz draft pours are available, so you can try a few things.
Try one of their dessert Sour/Berliner Weisse Pop! series beers – the 4.0% ABV Cherry Raspberry Pop! is brewed with cherries, raspberries, vanilla, and milk sugar and is outstanding. Also check out the Memory Palace, a 12.0% ABV Imperial Stout conditioned on toasted coconuts from Sri Lanka, cardamom seeds from India, and Ancho chilis from Mexico.
For those looking for something other than beer, a selection of New York-produced cider, mead, natural wines, and digestifs is available, along with non-alcoholic soda, and kombucha.
Food is provided by Brooklyn restaurant Samesa, who run a contemporary Middle Eastern cuisine kiosk in the taproom. They offer shareable snacks, shawarmas, and rotating specials, including vegan and gluten free options.
The space is dog friendly (all dogs must be kept on a leash), and growler refills, along with cans and bottles are available for those who want to take beer home.
