MELBOURNE | Heart Of Hall is a new cooking school, cafe and cookery shop in one, housed in the old bank opposite Newport train station. It’s the idea of owners Stacey Krbaleski and Nicole Walker, who met 10 years ago when their daughters were starting pre-primary and bonded over their love for food, family, cooking and hospitality. Heart of Hall is the progression of these shared passions, and aims to ‘bring people and food together in practical and entertaining ways’.
Both Nicole and Stacey have grown up around good food and at Heart of Hall they embrace the small producers of food and wine, the urban farmers, the boutique food suppliers and the creators, chefs and cooks and share in their dreams. It’s all about sharing the stories of all involved in the process of bringing food from farm to table, and the community aspect of food.
At Heart of Hall visitors can enrol in any number of classes which are held each week. The classes focus on learning and developing new skills in the kitchen and include things like Cheese Making, Pasta 101, Spanish Feast, Vegan and Children’s Cooking.
Along with the school, there’s also a cafe that’s focused on classic dishes done right. Think things like granola, chia pudding, smahed avocado on toast, scrambled eggs, and zucchini fritters. The quality of ingredients used is high, with suppliers like Schulz Organic Dairy, Meredith Dairy, Small Batch Roasting Co., La Madre Bakery, and Meatsmith.
Finally, there’s the shop, where you can find an assortment of cookbooks and cooking equipment to help ensure that you’re well equipped at home to put your new knowledge and skills to the test.
