MELBOURNE | Magic On Ferrars South Melbourne is one of those places that you stumble across and wonder how you didn’t know about it before. Ashley Kniveton and his wife, Verlyn, have created a hole in the wall cafe which is all about exceptional coffee, a focused, quality food menu and great service. There’s a real focus on the quality of the produce and sourcing of ingredients and products at Magic on Ferrars. Coffee comes from St Ali, pastries come from Cobb Lane while Matcha comes from Matcha Maiden just to name a few.

The excellent coffee is brewed just the way you like it, with a range of brewing methods on offer and when it comes time to eat, there’s an all day breakfast menu and lunch menu. The menu changes with the seasons, but keep an eye out for the pre-gym, which contains salami scrambled eggs with spinach, capsicum and onion, topped with shaved Parmesan on toast.

Magic on Ferrars aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel with their small cafe, they’re just about creating the perfect little local’s spot that gets all of the important things right.

Paul has a strong inquisitive nature that drives him to look beneath the surface in order to discover what really makes a city and its people tick, and what better way to do this than over a good meal or drink, with a city’s locals, at places that people who live in that city actually frequent. Paul is also a co-host of The Brunswick Beer Collective, a podcast that may or may not actually be about beer.
