LOS ANGELES | Melrose Umbrella Company on Melrose Avenue is a bar/cafe that was created by owners Zachary Patterson and Austin Melrose to be a community focused place where people can hang out all day. The space dates back to 1936 and is surprisingly bright with high ceilings and Douglas Fir beams. It all fits in very well with the bar’s post-prohibition theme.

Melrose Umbrella Company specialises in creative takes on classic cocktails with a herbaceous twist, with a coffee, sandwich and pastry focus by day. There are five beers and five cocktails on draft, while the coffee program contains a range of what could almost be described as non-alcoholic coffee cocktails, designed to pair with the food that’s served during the day.

It’s a fun, relaxed place that puts a lot of attention into the details. Even the ice used in each drink is more than an afterthought. It all adds up for a great experience no matter the time of day you visit.
