MELBOURNE | What’s better than a Sunday dinner? How about a very long lunch? How about a feast?

In the quieter Fitzroy North end of Brunswick Street, cafe Mio Locale, a favourite for the area’s locals, is offering a once a month Sunday feast, beginning this Sunday the 17th of July. The City Lane were invited for the preview.

Specialising in rich Italian meals, Mio Locale Sunday Feasts are 4 courses, combined with matched wines, with the intent of bringing a traditional Italian feast to your Sunday for $45.00pp.

When we attended, the menu featured an assortment of dishes – Filei pasta native to the Calabrian region, served with a slow cooked pork & beef ragu, salad, Italian schnitzel with seasonal salad and “peasants doughnuts” just to name a few. Servings are decent, with the whole meal large enough to cover most of your dinner needs that lunch and well into the evening. We enjoyed all of the food, and were thinking about the ragu in particular all week – an amazingly tasty winter pasta dish.

The experience of Mio Locale’s Sunday Feast seems like a home away from home. It’s simple but filling, and for obvious reasons, bookings are essential.

Sunday Feasts are available one Sunday a month, beginning at 1:00pm and ending at around 3:00pm. If you’re a fan of simple, home style Italian cooking done right, you really can’t go wrong.
