Mouthwatering PATTY MELT – How to make this AMERICAN DINER CLASSIC

MELBOURNE | I recently launched my YouTube series, “In The Kitchen“. In it, I go behind the scenes of a city’s restaurant kitchens, and learn more about the owners/chefs, their food, and what makes their venues special.

During Melbourne’s lockdown 2.0, I’ve been unable to take you into the restaurant kitchens of Melbourne, so I decided to do a little something in my own kitchen.

In this video, I show you how to make a classic American diner sandwich, the Patty Melt, which I first encountered in Austin, Texas.

I originally filmed this so that I could practice some things, but when I posted a photo of the Patty Melt in Instagram, many people said that they wanted to see the video, so here it is in all of its amateur hour glory.

If you want the recipe in text form, you can find it here. Also check out my recipe for a droolworthy Double Patty Smash Burger.

Paul founded The City Lane back in 2009 as a place to share photos of his travels around Europe with friends and family. The City Lane might have changed quite a lot since those early days but one thing that’s remained constant is Paul’s passion for food, travel and culture, and a desire to photograph and write about his experiences. Paul has a strong inquisitive nature that drives him to look beneath the surface in order to discover what really makes a city and its people tick, and what better way to do this than over a good meal or drink, with a city’s locals, at places that people who live in that city actually frequent. Paul is also a co-host of The Brunswick Beer Collective, a podcast that may or may not actually be about beer.
