MELBOURNE | Rice Paper Scissors is an Asian fusion restaurant with a difference – you are encouraged to eat with your hands. Modelled on the hawker dining bars of South East Asia with a shared-eating concept, the focus is on fresh ingredients, sourced organically and ethically where possible – and sauces, patés and relishes made in-house. It’s all about punchy flavours, and fun communal dining.
As the weather starts to warm up, so do the creative minds at Rice Paper Scissors. Throughout the season of Spring, Rice Paper Scissors in Fitzroy are offering an all-you-can-eat Yum Cha experience every third Sunday of the month! Unlike traditional Yum Cha experiences where noisy trolley carts squeeze between tables and a lack of acknowledgement from wait staff spark uncertainty as to whether your request was heard, the experience at Rice Paper Scissors is markedly different, offering a more relaxed vibe and socially-friendly atmosphere in which to while away the hours on a Sunday afternoon.
For a set price per person ($55.00), you are welcome to eat as much as your heart desires, choosing from a variety of signature dishes (hello, twice-cooked sticky pork belly) and constantly-changing new dishes, brought to your table by friendly wait staff carrying trays of food. Wash everything down with one of their signature hand-crafted cocktails, and immerse yourself in the fun ambience that is created, inspired by the hawker stalls commonly found throughout South East Asia.
Incorporating authentic flavours in locally fresh ingredients and contemporary presentation styles, the Rice Paper Scissors concept of being able to eat most of their dishes with your hands remains consistent across their new Yum Cha offering, resulting in a unique dining experience that you won’t want to miss. Of course, even if you don’t go for the yum cha, a meal off the regular menu here always hits the spot.
If you can’t make it to the Fitzroy location, Rice Paper Scissors have an even more central location in the CBD.
