MELBOURNE | It’s summer 2017, and yep, that’s right, the South Melbourne Night Market is back to provide you with many a balmy Thursday evening of treats, eats and beats. We went to the opening night and the first thing that’s noticeable compared to past years is that the whole thing is bigger. It extends around a lot more of the outside of the market so things don’t feel as crowded as in years past.
What’s the same as prior years though is all of the stuff that matters. There’s are loads of great food (and drink) trucks at the South Melbourne Night Market this year, including favourites like Beatbox Kitchen, Bibelot, Colonial Brewing Co, Kalamaki (Greek Street Food), and Frencheese – and that’s barely scraping the surface. Many of the market’s regular stalls and eateries are open, and inside the market you’ll find a range of independent shops like Lost In Seasons, The Supercool, and Merchants of Fairness selling all kinds of things like books, crafts, homewares and clothing.
To top things off, there are a few small stages dotted throughout the market where local musicians play tunes to match the warm, relaxed summer vibe. South Melbourne Night Market is one of our favourite night markets in Melbourne, and we’re glad to see it back and bigger than ever in 2017. Pop by some time – it’s open every Thursday from 5:30pm from now until the end of February.
